Dennis L. Amtower grew up in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. His father and uncle both had careers in this profession. Soon after his father opened his private practice, Dennis began working for him.

This work experience led Dennis into the profession and he received his bachelor's degree in orthotics and prosthetics from New York University. Upon graduation, he continued to work for his father as well as hold a position as clinical instructor in orthotics and prosthetics at Northwestern University.

Dennis has additional clinical experience from Rancho Los Amigos County Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. He has participated in various research projects at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has lectured extensively to physician groups, rehabilitation personnel, and professional colleagues.

Dennis is an active member of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, the American Board for Certification of Orthotists and Prosthetists, and Massachusetts Society of Orthotists and Prosthetists. He has also served on the boards of several of these organizations.
